ScrollBack Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 19, 2026
Overview
ScrollBack is a local-first Chrome extension for saving and restoring checkpoints inside web pages. The extension does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, or a remote backend.
Data Stored Locally
To provide its core functionality, ScrollBack stores checkpoint data in Chrome local storage on your device. This may include page URLs, page titles, domain names, scroll position, page progress, nearby visible text snippets, headings, user labels, user notes, checkpoint type, timestamps, pinned status, and local settings.
Data Transmission
ScrollBack does not transmit page content, checkpoint notes, browsing data, or saved URLs to a ScrollBack server. There is no ScrollBack server.
Payments
Pro payments are handled by ExtensionPay. ScrollBack may check payment status through ExtensionPay and store a local paid/not-paid status cache. Payment processing is handled by ExtensionPay and its payment providers. See ExtensionPay's privacy policy at https://extensionpay.com/privacy.
Permissions
ScrollBack uses browser permissions only to save and restore checkpoints, open tabs, run the content script on pages where checkpoints can be saved, show optional notifications, and manage local extension data.
Export and Import
If you export your data, the exported file is created locally by your browser. You control where that file is saved and shared.
